The Spike-Tite Story

In 1969 Golf Inc (a subsidiary of the Ernie Sabayrac Organization) Design Director, Ed Parrotte, collaborated with Noller Design Group and Trend Mills of Georgia to provide a practical, inexpensive spike-proof carpet for golf clubhouse usage.

Prior to the introduction of “Spike-Tite”, only two (2) major carpet mills manufactured spike-proof carpet at the exorbitant price of $60 per yard. “Spike-Tite” was introduced at $12 per yard with a guarantee of four (4) years wear. This innovative 1” high pile carpet with tight woven construction twisted jote backing simply did not allow the metal spikes to reach the core backing which erupted nylon fibers. “Spike-Tite” became the trend setter for golf installations through out the United States.

Today, soft spike requires less construction as in previous years and there are many color patterns and sources available, however, Noller Design Group provides the highest quality products with warranty (with proper installation) at the lowest prices available to the golfing industry.
